Practising

Week fifteen of eighteen. Phase C, the part the whole programme was built around: return to performance, with the Dolomites season as the actual test rather than a theoretical one. The redpoint target sits behind me now. What’s ahead is the project work before the programme closes in early October.

Building

Q4 got cut to four things: outdoors, board work, the best and new Fab Campaigns clients, and writing. Two longer-running ventures, Smart Mountains and Imprese Favolose, get a real decision this quarter instead of another quiet stretch. Not a fade either way.

Moving

Winchester most weeks, with Belluno and the Valtellina for the climbing and the property work that never quite finishes. Scotland at the end of the month: Edinburgh, and Glen Coe if the days allow it. A few Fab Rides adventures in new places are taking shape too. This Friday is for refreshing the New Forest routes, ahead of leading a group out on them the Friday after.

Writing

Field Notes restarted on Friday, shorter than before, which was the point. Monday Momentum restarted today. An Ideas piece on what Microsoft’s ownership has done to LinkedIn is in draft, sourced and half argued. The manifesto keeps waiting for a publisher conversation I keep meaning to have.

Exploring

Board work, still the long game. A target list, not yet a shortlist. A governance book club with two people I trust more than most institutions, working through Karen Hao’s Empire of AI this month. The discipline I’m practising there is the same one everywhere else this quarter: hold back, don’t fill the space just because it’s open.
