Building partnerships where technology meets territory.

I am a Partnership Architect and strategic advisor. Thirty years across telecommunications, mobile apps, location services, IoT, data infrastructure and environmental intelligence, in several markets, taught me one thing that has held in every one of them: the partnerships that create lasting value run on different principles from the ones that extract it.

This site is where I work those principles out and put them to use.

The Work

I write and advise on how partnerships should work, particularly where technology transformation meets data privacy and sovereignty, territorial development, climate adaptation and environmental intelligence.

Six principles hold the thinking together. They are not a checklist. They are one membrane held at six angles, the same underlying discipline applied to a different part of building.

Partnerships Over Transactions. What you would design if you did not know which side of the table you would end up on. Mutual value over zero-sum extraction, grounded in relational contract theory and two decades of partnerships that survived because both sides won.

Embedding Over Advising. Recommendations handed in from outside are accumulated ink. Capability built from inside is fresh inscription. The difference between advisors who parachute in and partners who leave something that lasts after they go.

Adventure Over Comfort. Shared challenge is the fastest honest calibration I know. Not team-building theatre. The mountain applies it by force: status dissolves at altitude, and what remains is judgment under real stakes.

Protection Over Exposure. Knowing which relationships have earned the depth. The work of stripping away assumptions is costly, and not every engagement deserves it. Discretion held as a principle rather than a fallback.

Presence Over Performance. Attention before the account of attention. The unrecorded walk, the undocumented climb, reality first and the story about it second, if at all.

Growth Through Discomfort. The willingness to let the mountain, the market or an honest partner scrape the surface clean again. The principle turned on the self, not only on the venture.

Underneath all six sits an idea I have been circling all year, the one I call the Arcadian vellum. The most serious position from which to build anything that matters is not accumulated expertise. It is deliberate, structured not-knowing. Not ignorance as absence, but ignorance as a translucent membrane that filters inherited assumption and technological reflex and lets only what is essential through. Rawls strips away social position; the vellum goes further, to knowledge itself. Kant supplies the test, whether the underlying logic would hold if everyone adopted it. Aristotle supplies the direction, flourishing in community over time. The mountain taught me this before the philosophers confirmed it. I set out the full argument in The Arcadian Vellum.

These principles did not come from theory. They came from supporting clients and partners on ambitious ventures, leading product strategy for personal data platforms, building global teams at Vodafone, and bringing outdoor leadership into the way commercial relationships actually form.

Why This Matters Now

Climate adaptation needs new infrastructure. Digital transformation is reshaping every sector. Cross-border work is becoming more necessary and more difficult at once.

Most partnerships still run on extraction logic. Maximise your share, minimise your commitment, treat the relationship as a transaction to optimise. It does not hold. The partnerships that survive adversity and compound over time work the other way. I am building a body of work that says how, and helps others apply it.

Current Focus

Fab Campaigns, Managing Director and Partner. This is the lead practice and the engine for everything else. I work with founders and leadership teams on the parts of a business that decide whether it holds: partnership strategy, organisation and governance design, and the definition of mission and strategy itself.

The work runs in three lanes. Diagnose is the short, sharp end, finding the real bottleneck before anyone commissions a programme, through growth diagnostics, Fab Days, and governance and data-maturity reviews. Build is where structure gets designed and stood up, the partnership operating model, business-model innovation, and UK market entry, built with the team rather than handed over. Embed is ongoing senior capability inside the leadership team, from an embedded Partnership Director role to advisory-board work and cross-border deal facilitation.

Six proprietary frameworks sit underneath: FabCube Base for multi-jurisdictional governance and conflict of interest, the Partnership Stage Gate, the C1–C4 Information Classification protocol, the Partnership Principles, the Ethical Ratchet, and Impact-Driven Cyber Governance. Fewer clients, deeper work. The practice is where the principles earn their keep, and the platform from which I build everything else.

The ventures. Two early-stage companies put the method under load, both built and bootstrapped through Fab Campaigns rather than run as separate stories. Smart Mountains is environmental intelligence infrastructure for mountain territories, precision monitoring, sensor networks and satellite data, positioned as an infrastructure company rather than a technology vendor, with its seeding round opening in summer 2026. Imprese Favolose is an Alpine climate and innovation incubator rooted in the Belluno valleys. Neither is a case study. They are where the frameworks meet real terrain.

Board and advisory. I am preparing for my first non-executive roles, with a focus on data privacy and ethical technology, ESG and climate intelligence, and the bridge between university research, private capital and industry. The positioning I work from is strategy and commercialisation in regulated, data-intensive environments.

Two directions feel alive right now. The Dolomites and Veneto, the territory I come from: business transformation at the scale of a whole region, where the mountains and the communities that live in them are the brief, and the work is to contribute to the renewal of a regional business community. That decision turns on legacy and territorial impact as much as on any other term. And London, where the institutions are, where the decisions get made, where the networks compound. The reason to be there is to help those decisions land on the side of real ethics and data stewardship rather than interest and extraction. Moving through that geography by bike, past Buckingham Palace, Number 10 and Parliament, slow enough to feel it, fast enough to keep going, makes the ambition feel less abstract and more like a place you are actually heading toward.

The Path Here

The thinking came from operating across the full range of organisational complexity.

Independent practice, Fab Campaigns. The strategic partnerships practice I run today. More than forty partnerships structured across four continents, with frameworks developed in live ventures and refined alongside clients across the UK and Europe. Diagnose, build, embed, and board-level contribution.

Global enterprise, Vodafone. Sixteen years inside one of the world’s largest telecommunications organisations. Senior global product leadership spanning product, M&A, R&D, legal, regulatory and privacy. Built and led cross-functional teams of fifty and more across continents. Matrix work: influence without direct authority, results through partnership rather than mandate.

Scale-up, Digi.me. Chief Product Officer through the critical growth phase of a personal data platform. Built relationships with FTSE 100 companies and global platforms, and worked directly with senior leadership on data-sharing frameworks during GDPR implementation.

Venture creation, Smart Mountains. Founded from a blank page through incorporation and partnership development. Founding is existential: every decision counts, resources are tight, and the founder is the last line of accountability.

Cross-border. UK base since 2006. Native Italian fluency, which lets me negotiate directly in the territory I come from. Operations in Israel for a neurotechnology venture, EU regulatory work, a partnership corridor into South Africa.

Technical depth to read architecture decisions, commercial judgment to structure partnerships, leadership at board level, fluency across territories. That is what makes the thinking credible.

Education. MSc Economics, Bocconi University, major in Innovation, Convergence and Statistics.

Outdoor leadership. Mountain Leader (Mountain Training UK), MTB Guide (British Cycling), Duke of Edinburgh Award Leader and Assessor.

Wine. WSET certified, Valtellina and Alpine wine specialist.

Languages. English, professional proficiency. Italian, native fluency.

The Integration

The outdoor practice is not separate from the intellectual work. It is where the principles get tested.

Relationships built over a long day on the hill, ski touring, climbing, riding, hold a kind of trust that conference-room relationships rarely reach, and that trust carries into commercial work. This is deliberate method, not lifestyle marketing. The mountain does not care about your credentials. It applies the vellum whether you consent or not.

Right now: rock climbing at 6c onsight and 7a+ redpoint, working toward 7b onsight and 8a redpoint, the grade where everything changes. Ski touring and mountain biking. Coaching three daughters on rock and on skis. Leading trips through UK national parks and Alpine terrain.

Quality of relationship sets quality of outcome. The mountain teaches it plainly, and it holds for every partnership worth building.
